The Vehicle of Energy

In Tantra, matter is treated as the Vehicle of Energy.
Energy is considered to be Conscious.
This consciousness, when it becomes manifest,
finds a vehicle for itself, which is manas, mind.
Consciousness is fourfold,
Manas- Mind, Buddhi-Intellect, Ahamkara- Identification "is-ness", Chitta- Being

While assuming physical forms, this consciousness exists in five sheaths,
and operates through the physical body, the best vehicle for expression.
Annamayi Kosha . . . .Sheath of Matter
Pranamayi Kosha . . . Sheath of Vital Air
Manomayi Kosha . . . Sheath of Mind
Vijnanamayi Kosha......Sheath of Knowledge
Anandamayi Kosha . . Sheath of Bliss

The physical body is composed of eight ingredients known as mula prakriti:
manas- mind; buddhi- intellect; ahamkara ego/identification;
The five elements: akasha (space/ether);
vayu-air; agni- fire; apah- water; prithvi- earth.

The five elements form the three doshas, or basic humors in the body:
"Vayu" wind from the air element
"Pitta" bile from the fire element
"Kapha" mucos a combination of water and earth elements

There are also three gunas, or qualities, that operate through the doshas:
"Sattva" equanimity, lightness. "Rajas" passion. "Tamas" sloth, darkness.

The entire octave of prakriti exists within the human organism
"as in the macrocosm, so in the microcosm".
The connecting force of this whole network is

Vayu Prana, which operates through particular nadis

Pranavaha Nadi the carrier of pranic force,
Manovaha Nadi the carrier of mental force.
