For me the thought of going into a temple was somehow terrifying. Until one day my brother insisted that I should go with him to a wonderful temple in Gujrat. The atmosphere was serene, very quiet and peaceful. The evening Arti was in progress.I stood before a beautiful Devi with the most benevolent expression. Shimmering in silver and gold,she glowed in the light of the artii diyas(lamps). Suddenly above me this huge bell started ringing. It felt that it was reverberating inside.I was rooted in worship and a energy that was electrifying in the temple's inner sanctum.. In the background the priest were chanting


By you this universe is borne, by you this world is created.
By you it is protected, O Devi. By you it is consumed at the end.
You who are eternally the form of the whole World,
at the time of creation you are the form of the creative force,
at the time of preservation you are the form of the protective power,
and at the time of the dissolution of the world you are the form of the destructive power.
You are the Supreme Knowledge, as well as ignorance,intellect and contemplation
