"Peninsular India, south of the Vindhyan mountains, is geologically distinct from the Indo- Gangetic plain and the Himalayas. It is the remains of a former continent, which stretched continuously to Africa in the space now occupied by the Indian Ocean. The rocks of this land mass formed are among the oldest in the world." |
